The Excellency of Patience

running-in-sunsetThe Excellency of Patience is great, because it gives you peace of mind. The peace of mind comes from knowing that the Father is in control. The control from the Father allows calm endurance.  Patience is excellent because it purifies the motive. These thoughts are driven by the following verses.

James 1:1-8King James Version (KJV)

1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Why would James use her or a female voice to personify patience?

James personifies patience as a woman or a female voice because, a male voice may project too much aggression. Patience doesn’t require strength and aggression it requires you to focus and listen.

After this test you will want nothing.

God testing your faith is excellent because, after the test He gives you great rewards. These rewards are not just in riches, but also in wisdom.  God says if you lack wisdom and ask Him, it (wisdom) will be given to you. But you must have faith and not waver like the sea.

“Faith is the accelerant.” Joel Osteen

Since faith is an accelerant when it is tried it accelerates patience. So the traditional tenants of patience do not apply as you work your faith. Faith can speed the process of being perfect and wanting nothing. Faith can be an accelerant in anything, the acceleration comes from you believing in the father and trusting in his word. In this faith do not waver in asking Him, if you waver you will be lost, driven out, and tossed away according to James 1 verse 6.

Proper faith and believing causes you not to waver.  This patience leads you on an excellent new path. God leads you to places you have never encountered that will give joy while testing your faith.
